Garry holds an Bachelor of Forestry Science obtained from Canterbury University (1985) in New Zealand. He has nearly 30 years of international forestry experience in both consultancy and line management roles. In recent times, Garry has managed large scale plantation development programmes in East Kalimantan, Indonesia with a focus on harvesting and transport logistics.
Garry has extensive experience in the management of both softwood and hardwood plantations, covering both short-rotation fibre crops and longer-rotation solid log crops. For natural forests, Garry has extensive experience in planning and harvesting. He has worked on natural forestry projects in ten countries through-out the Asia-Pacific region. Garry has a good knowledge of the Indonesian forest industry having worked as a senior manager with a major forest owner between 2007 and 2010. In addition to detailed knowledge of natural forest management, Garry also has expertise in the fields of forest planning and budgeting, forest inventory, establishment and silviculture, harvesting, transport, financial modelling and valuation.
Garry has been the PNG Biomass Field Operations Manager since November 2011.
